NGO “Smart Osvita” and the website “NUS” continue the third season of the “Dopamin for Education” podcast. In the new episode, the head of “Smart Osvita”, Halyna Titysh, talks with Taras Pavlov, a math teacher and lecturer at the Kyiv School of Economics, about why mathematics is a science that is essential for everyone and how the content of mathematical education in Ukraine should be transformed.
The speakers discussed whether mathematics should be a mandatory subject for the NMT/ZNO and its practical relevance in everyday life. Halyna and Taras explored ways to engage children with mathematics and simplify their perception of the subject. They also discussed the question of changing the school curriculum and aligning it with real-life situations, as well as the division of people into “techies” and “humanitarians.” The issue of education during times of war became particularly acute for Ukrainians, so Taras and Halyna sought to find solutions for children to make up for educational losses in mathematics and catch up with the curriculum.
