This summer, the project “Ukraine Speaks English” is planning many interesting and useful classes with volunteer teachers. You can find the schedule and the news on the project telegram channel, and here we will tell you about the most interesting classes in the first half of the summer. The password to each meeting is – smart:
1. Looking for exoplanets with Bruce Callow and the NASA Planet Hunters program
Exoplanets are planets beyond the Solar system that orbit other stars. At this meeting, you will learn more about the NASA Planet Hunters TESS project and how you can find signals from orbital exoplanets with the help of a special platform.
Conducted by Bruce Callow, an author of books about space, a science writer and a former consultant to NASA astronaut Franklin R. Chang.
2. How do children in Japan study? Setsuko Toyama and Ayako Oiwa
Join the meeting and learn about the school life of Japanese children. You will learn about what it means to be schoolchildren in Japan, whether it is easier to study there and why the academic year starts in April.

3. Meeting Canadian schoolgirls from Calgary Girls Charter School
You will have a unique opportunity to meet schoolgirls from Canada. If you register and come to the meeting, you can learn more about the life of Canadian teenagers and about studying in a Canadian school. You are going to meet students at Calgary Girls Charter School and ask them any questions you like.

4. SCUBA diving in Australia with Simon Doyle
Let’s dive into the summer with Simon Doyle and SCUBA diving! You will enjoy an unusual meeting underwater near the Australian shore. Grab your diving masks and swimming fins to be prepared for the meeting.

5. Virtual tour at the Antarctic station
Serhii Yakushchenko and Nazarii Tsyupka have prepared a virtual tour through Vernadsky Research Base, where they live and work. The explorers will tell you about how they got to the station, prepared for it, and learned English to work in the Antarctic.

6. An excursion to the Calgary Zoo
Visit a real zoo online in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. This is the second biggest zoo in Canada, situated on an island. You can see various animals here, from polar bears to lemurs.

David Falkoner, a school headmaster from Canada, will tell us about his life in the Amazon Forest when he was a child. Come and learn about the amazing adventures in an unusual place!

8. Virtual excursion in the Royal Tyrrell Museum
Join the virtual excursion to a major Canadian research centre in paleontology, which stores more than 18,000 fossils in Canada’s biggest storage facility.
This is where you can find the fossils of the first dinosaur found on Earth! As well as the mammoth and many other extinct animals. The museum is annually visited by 400,000 tourists. You can become a virtual visitor of this very interesting place, too!

9. Magic show with magician Chris Pilsworth
Chris Pilsworth is a famous illusionist with a background of more than six thousand magic shows on different continents. Chris can entertain: he can create a coin from the air when asked for a small change to buy ice cream in a shop, place a cactus inside a balloon that won’t pop, and get breakfast from an empty bag.
