“Learn with Your Ears” is a series of free audio lessons on the Ukrainian language, literature, and history of Ukraine for students in grades 8-11. The project “Learn with Your Ears” is carried out by the NGO “Smart Osvita” with the support of the Educo Foundation. In the future, students will be able to listen to lessons on world history and civic education as well. In the series of lessons on Ukrainian literature, talented teachers not only analyze works but also engage the listener in the process, using the most interesting and recent examples.
This week, the “Learn with Your Ears” project by the NGO “Smart Osvita” has released two new audio lessons, both focusing on Ukrainian literature for 10th grade.
Between Joy and Sorrow: The Creativity of Oleksandr Oles
Oleksandr Oles (real name Oleksandr Petrovych Kandiba) is a renowned Ukrainian writer, poet, playwright, and public figure. In the new audio lesson, Ukrainian language and literature teacher Olena Saienko will talk about the influencer of the early 20th century. You will learn which book the author read first, how many languages he knew, and the consequences of his decision to write exclusively in Ukrainian. Why did Oleksandr Kandiba have to leave the country and what challenges did he have to overcome? How did the fate of the father influence his son?
