Free creative clubs for children
Poland became the country that has accepted the most extensive number of Ukrainian refugees. Since the end of February, more than 1.1 million Ukrainians have moved to this neighboring country. Many Ukrainians decided to stay in one of the largest Polish cities – Krakow, which is relatively close to the Ukrainian border. That’s why NGO “Smart Osvita” in collaboration with the “Art School of Free and Ambitions,” decided to start music, design, and drama classes in Krakow for children relocated from Ukraine.
About the project: “Art Club in Krakow” has two locations with free classes for Ukrainian children aged 6 to 14. The kids have classes on a theater production, singing, drawing, and sculpting. Children are divided into groups 6–8 and 9–14 yo. Also, they have different events like Minecraft sessions or Vyshyvanka Day celebrations. Since the end of April 2022, more than 600 children have attended free classes.
The project’s goal. Children are always much more sensitive to changes than adults. And sudden relocation, mainly caused by the war, may negatively impact a child’s mental health. Communication with peers and art classes is one of the most effective ways to help children reduce stress and relieve their painful memories. Art heals. Art gives strength to move on.
The project started on April 25, 2022
